Birkenhead OGS

Welcome To Birkenhead High School OGS

Birkenhead High School is one of the North's leading independent girls' schools.   We have a strong tradition of academic success and a much deserved reputation for developing confident, caring, well qualified and well rounded young women who are prepared to meet all of life's challenges.  But these achievements are just part of Birkenhead High School's story, as our website will reveal.

As a present or prospective pupil, a parent, or an old girl catching up on the past, we hope that you will find the answers to your questions here.

Please feel free to contact us for more details of any aspect of school life at Birkenhead High.

Birkenhead Old Girls' Society

The BHS Old Girls’ Society is a flourishing concern of over 1,785 members, making us the largest Old Girls’ Society within the GDST family of schools.  The Society exists to keep former pupils in touch with each other and to provide an opportunity for them and the staff to meet informally.

Two meetings are held in school each year - our annual June Reunion and our AGM in September plus from time to time a dinner to celebrate a special occasion – e.g. the Centenary Dinner and Concert in June 2001.  Additionally, we have a regular monthly programme of local outings and pub lunches for those living locally.  For those living further afield there is a Southern branch of the society and two Southern lunches are arranged each year.

Our popular Newsletter is published each Autumn – 100 plus pages, full of interesting photographs, short news items and longer letters from girls and staff of all generations.  Do send us news of yourself and your friends for inclusion in the Newsletter (our Editor is Mrs Angela Bolton). New members receive a complimentary copy and all members receive our annual summer bulletin, Daisy Chain, containing details of all Society meetings, reunions and events in school.

If you have news to send to Angela or you are interested in joining the Old Girls’ Society, please e-mail Maggie Williams at: hiatus@liverpool.ac.uk
