Designs that love the environment 
 
 

All of Year 8 were given a 'green' Design and Technology challenge before Xmas - to design and make either a costume or an accessory for a Valentines’ Party. 

Their entry had to be made entirely from re-used or re-cycled material and was organised by the Design and Technology Department.

Judges (comprising one Art teacher, one Year 8 tutor and the teacher with responsibility for environmental awareness) will be looking for originality and will award prizes in both categories (costume / accessory) for most creative design, best use of green materials, best made. This is being run as an interhouse competition.  It is part of the Department's ongoing efforts to make students aware of the importance of considering the environment within Product Design.

It is also intended to be good fun and a chance for students to explore their creativity!

The girls’ innovative designs used recycled materials to create lively and colourful valentines’ outfits. The recycled materials  included crisp packets, newspapers, xmas wrapping paper, CD’s and even squashed juice cartons which were transformed  into a bag!
