The Board of Deputies of British Jews in cooperation with Norfolk County Council and Norfolk SACRE will be bringing its Jewish Way of Life Exhibition for the first time in its history to Norwich. It will run from January 25th until February 5th 2010 and will be hosted by Norwich High School for Girls. The exhibition is open to all schools in Norfolk and Suffolk.
“The exhibition is designed to enable pupils, students and their teachers to gain a fresh insight into Judaism”, explained Head of Religious Studies at the Newmarket Road school, Andreas Emerson-Moering. “Judaism is a faith and lifestyle that has been sustained for over 5000 years by family values and a clear moral message.”
JWOLE is a travelling exhibition that has been on the road for over 30 years, but is constantly being improved and updated. The exhibition is suitable for Key Stages 1 to 3 and was written by educationalists to ensure that the teaching of Judaism fully supports all agreed syllabuses. Several local schools have already signed-up to visit the exhibition.
Visitors will experience Judaism through beautifully illustrated 6ft display panels with clear text, authentic artefact tables and hands on educational activities.
“This is a chance for pupils to engage with Judaism in an original, exciting ‘learning outside the classroom’ experience”, commented Mr Emerson-Moering.
The Jewish Way of Life exhibition will be open for schools from Monday 25th January to Friday 5th February 2010. Each session can accommodate a maximum of forty pupils and there will be three sessions a day: 9.30am to 10.45am / 11.00am to 12.15am and 1.30pm to 2.45pm.
If you would like to make a booking for your school, please contact Mr Emerson-Moering at Norwich High School for Girls, 95 Newmarket Road, Norwich NR2 2HU, tel: 01603 453265. Sessions will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
