Norwich High School for Girls are pleased to report that eight of our Sixth Form students have been successful in gaining offers at Oxford and Cambridge universities for courses starting in September 2010. However we are also proud of the achievements of our other Oxbridge applicants, many of whom were selected for interviews and the daunting selection procedure. All of our students acquitted themselves well in the face of stiff competition. Three of our successful candidates are picked out below in order exemplify the pleasing ratio of Oxbridge successes this year, which is in excess of our benchmark of 10% of our Sixth Formers gaining places each year at these two prestigious universities.
Angharad Everden, Jesus College, Cambridge University, to read Medicine: "This will allow me to really understand the science and research side of Medicine. I enjoyed the challenge of the interview - they made me think about science in a way I never had before! The college is beautiful and has everything I would love to be part of.
Ananya Mukhopadhyay, Trinity College, Cambridge University to read French and Spanish: “I had to study an unseen text for the interview in the library and I was petrified! But … the interviewers weren’t too intimidating and both interviews seemed to go well. I am most looking forward to living in the collegiate system.”
Virginia Fellows, Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University to read Veterinary Medicine: “I was very nervous about the interview but all the students there were very friendly and made me feel at home. I am really looking forward to the small group teaching and I hope to not only learn how to be a vet, but also to gain a broad insight into the science that underpins it. I want to get involved in new activities and I am excited about the freedom university will offer me.”
