Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) results indicate a stellar A Level performance for its Sixth Formers.
59.7% of A2 grades are A’s, of which 22.9% are A*s.
This compares very favourably with the overall figures for independent schools, which are 50.8% A’s, of which 17.9% are A*’s.
Girls nationally (in all schools, maintained and independent) also outperformed boys, achieving 8.3% A*’s (7.9% for boys) and 27.9% A*/A’s (26.1% for boys).
The GDST’s Acting Director of Education, Mrs Lisa Laws said:
“We congratulate all our students on their terrific results. They and their teachers have worked tremendously hard to achieve this, and they deserve to enjoy their success.
“Our girls’ results, and those of girls nationally, directly contradict the forecasts that predicted that the new A* grade, alongside the reduction in the number of modules in some subjects, would favour boys. These marks show that hard-working, well-taught, motivated and intelligent girls can achieve fantastic grades.”
