Sydenham High School Choir were the backing group for famous faces from some of TV’s most popular programmes at TV Times’ Christmas Carols with the Stars on 10 December 2009 at a packed Royal Albert Hall. The star-studded line-up of guests and performers included famous faces from Strictly Come Dancing, Coronation Street and Eastenders, with all the money raised going to blood cancer charity Leukaemia Research.
The girls were excited and proud to be on stage with a galaxy of stars who sang and introduced carols throughout the night and also performed on their own, leading a rousing Hallelujah Chorus. Particular favourites with the girls were Ben Shepard from GMTV and Bruno Tonioli from Strictly Come Dancing.
The 200 Sydenham High School singers included the full choir as well as parents and teachers. Kathryn Pullen, the headteacher was on stage and was delighted with the performance. “This is the third time we have sung at the Royal Albert Hall and every year just keeps getting better. The choir has remarkable range and versatility and are performing regularly for audiences large and small. We are happy to support the fantastic work of Leukaemia Research.
