GDST Associates and Honorary Associates The GDST launched its Associates with a meeting and reception at the Institute of Directors in October 2005. The first cohort of 30 women is drawn from the 45,000-strong GDST Alumnae Network of GDST alumnae: all attended a GDST school and sustained thriving careers in every sphere of business, academic and public life. The Associates serve as an important sounding board for the charity’s future direction and strategy, as well as acting as ambassadors for the organisation. They help to enhance the profile of the GDST and its 26 schools by acting as spokespersons on a range of issues. They also provide expertise and advice, support the Minerva Network programme in schools and in a professional networking context and back the GDST’s fundraising. The GDST Alumnae Network currently has over 45,000 members, aged 16 to 106. A further group joined the first cohort of 30 Associates in 2006, drawn not just from alumnae but also from current and former parents, and friends of the GDST, bringing the total to near 60. Each will serve a maximum of two three-year terms. Honorary Associates This is how the GDST strives to acknowledge outstanding service to the Trust by individual retiring members of Council, and Chairmen of Local Governing Bodies who wish to stay in touch with the work of the GDST and the schools. Appointment is at the discretion of the Council, tenure is life-long and the role is honorary. The full list of GDST Associates (and the GDST school with which they are linked) is:
