Sutton High hosts London regional Trust Sports Rally

On Tuesday 20 September, four schools came together for the GDST London Regional Sports Rally, hosted by Sutton High School. Many girls had their first chance to perform competitively in a new sport, while others were able to put some more familiar skills to the test.

The U15s took part in a very competitive water polo competition in the swimming pool where there were many close matches. Notting Hill and Ealing High School came out eventual victors after beating Sutton High into second spot.

There were some impressive performances in the U14 badminton, with Putney High School convincingly beating South Hampstead High School and Sutton High into second and third places respectively.

Meanwhile, the U13s took part in a lively football competition. The final was won on penalties in dramatic fashion by Putney High despite tan impressive performance from the South Hampstead goalkeeper.

The U12 and U11 teams took part in a tennis competition out on the courts where Putney High once more illustrated their strength in racket sports by beating South Hampstead into second and Sutton High into third.

At the end of the day, Year 5 students from across the schools gave a fantastic dance performance based on the musical Hairspray to all girls and staff. The Year 5s had been working in the Dance Studio with Kira Bishop from Pineapple Studios, who awarded two prizes after the performance.

Notting Hill and Ealing won ‘best school performance’ and Charlotte from Putney was awarded ‘most improved dancer’.

Well done to all the girls who took part in the day. Though the sport was played at a high level with some very competitive matches, students from different schools enjoyed getting to know each other and there was a friendly atmosphere throughout.
