Birkenhead High School is sponsored by the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST). Founded in 1872, the GDST is one of the largest, longest established and most successful groups of independent schools in the UK, educating over 20,000 students aged three to 19 in 29 schools.

As a charity, it reinvests all income in its schools for the benefit of its pupils. GDST schools help students to achieve some of the best academic results nationally. The GDST is also the sponsor of the highly successful Belvedere Academy in Liverpool.
