Ipswich High School for Girls saw ecstatic scenes this morning, as pupils and staff celebrated some of their best GCSE results ever. Combined A* and A results topped 75% with over one third of all girls gaining straight A* and A grades. Modern Languages, Physical Education and History all gained excellent results, with over 85% A* and A.

Head, Elaine Purves, said

"We are thrilled for the girls and the School. The teachers and pupils have put tremendous effort and energy into the GCSE studies, and these fantastic results are well deserved. Following on from the outstanding A level results last week, this is an excellent finale to our academic year."
