Academic Scholarships

On the basis of their performance in interview and entrance exam, candidates will be

selected to attend a Scholars’ Day on the Tuesday following the entrance examination. They will be notified by telephone on Monday and asked to confirm their attendance. The Scholars’ Day is designed to be a stimulating, challenging and fun half-day assessment on the basis of which our prestigious academic scholarships will be awarded.

There is no need to fill in an application form for the Academic Scholarships as they are automatically selected from all candidates. However, candidates must sit the entrance exam on the Saturday to be eligible.

Art, Drama, Music and Sport Scholarships

Auditions for these scholarships will be held on Friday 18th January. Below is an

outline of the assessment process for each Scholarship. Application forms and further

details are available from the Admissions Officer.

Art

Candidates will be asked to bring a portfolio of their own work which could include drawings, paintings, sketchbooks and photographs of large pieces. They will be

interviewed by the Head of Art and asked to share their portfolio and discuss their

interest in art. The final assessment will involve a drawing activity based on

still-life objects.

Drama

The Drama Scholarship assessment comprises three activities. First an interview with the Head of Drama, to give candidates the opportunity to share their drama interests and

experience. Secondly they will be asked to perform a prepared piece of their choosing and finally they will undertake a short sight reading exercise.

Music
Candidates will be required to play one prepared piece of their choice for 2 – 3 minutes. If they would like to perform on a second instrument or voice the total performance time should be no longer than 10 minutes. The audition will also include an interview with our Head of Music, exploring the candidate’s musical interests and a sight reading and aural test. We will be looking for candidates to demonstrate their musicality, flair and technical ability. Our overall assessment will consider each candidate’s current standard of
achievement balanced by their potential.

Sport
Candidates should send their sporting CV along with any photocopies of awards or
certificates with their initial application. We are looking for sportswomen who are
passionate and committed to school sports. The assessment will involve an interview with the Head of PE followed by a practical exercise in the sport of the candidate’s choosing (please indicate your preferred sport on your application form).
