Exclusive prizes offered by the GDST for our most talented girls.

Prizes and other awards are often made in subject disciplines or to support travel or development in other areas such as public speaking or creative writing.

Chrystall Prize for Public Speaking

Chrystall Carter was Legal Adviser to the Trust for nine years, and then Deputy Legal Secretary, until her sudden and untimely death in 1999. This competition was set up by her husband Richard in her memory.

Laurie Magnus Poetry Prize

This Prize was established in memory of Laurie Magnus by his widow. He was a GDST Council member from 1907, and Chairman from 1929 until his death in 1933.

Lorna Cocking Scholarship

This scholarship was established to mark the outstanding contribution made by Lorna Cocking, who retired as Chair of the GDST in 2014, after a very successful seven year tenure.

These Awards are offered to pupils in GDST schools to help towards the cost of attending meetings or courses or carrying out projects with a classical content.
