 In
2000 the school became the first in the GDST to receive
the Investor in Careers award. The award is reassessed
every year: the standard was successfully attained again
in June 2003.
Our
Careers Education and Guidance Programme supports the
development of the knowledge and skills that the girls
need to make effective preparations for each stage of
their education and ultimately for the world of work.
We aim to provide:
- The opportunity to identify and
develop areas of strength and weakness through self
assessment and aptitude testing in year 11 through
the ISCO programme leading to an individual careers
report and discussion with a Careers advisor to enable
appropriate and effective action planning
- Access to information from providers
outside school such as Prospect/Connexions, the Independent
Schools Careers Organisation and the GDST's Minerva
network.
- Comprehensive, up-to-date and unbiased
information about careers and higher education.
- The opportunity to develop the knowledge
and skills needed to make appropriate choices and
successful transitions throughout their time at school
and into higher education, work or training.
- Familiarity with the world of work
through the work opportunity programme in year 10.
- Enhancement
of the partnership between the school, parents, careers
services, employers and local community.
