 Dance
enjoys a very special place in the senior school curriculum.
The school has a qualified dance specialist and its
own magnificent mirrored Studio where all girls from
Years 7 to 9 have a weekly dance lesson: working on
creative dance and learning a variety of dance styles,
ranging from the Tango to the Charleston and Rock n
Roll. In year 11 many girls choose the ‘Street
dance’ option and work with Mark Franks: a professional
dance teacher who trained with the Royal Ballet.
There
is a Year 7 Dance Club; a Junior Dance Club (Years 8
and 9); and a Senior Dance club for years 10 and above.
A number of girls are selected for the Dance Performance
Group, which stretches the especially able and gifted.
In the various clubs the girls work on street dance,
jazz numbers, musical pieces and creative dance and
all performers, regardless of ability have the opportunity
to show their work in our fabulous July Summer Show:
a Gymnastics and Dance spectacular held annually in
the Sports hall.
 The
specialist dance skills acquired by the girls enhance
performance in many areas of the curriculum, most especially
in School Musical productions and the outstanding choreography
that permeates our gymnastics and sports acrobatics
sequences. We have some very accomplished and confident
performers!
