 We
are very proud in the Senior Department of the value
we add to the academic success of our girls. Staff here
are adept at spotting potential in a pupil an nurturing
it. Where we gain real satisfaction is taking a girl
at 11 who think she may get Bs and Cs and turning them
into As and Bs. We believe that is the combination of
dedicated teaching and individual attention to pupils
that allows us to do it. We are very proud of the fact
that most of our girls go onto leading Universities
including Oxford and Cambridge.
Girls can't learn everything from a
book and our excellent facilites mean that we can really
help stretch them. For our scientists, we have six science
labs and computer buffs have two purpose built ICT centres.
Artists find themselves in the art and pottery studios,
musicians have a new music block with state of the art
keyboard technology plus eight practice rooms and performers
can shine on the specially built recital hall stage
or the bigger Ellis Hall. Sportswomen play in the indoor
sports courts, dance studio or extensive outdoor space.
The
senior Department is alive with activity, giving girls
an outlet beyond the curriculum. Girls can find thenselves
doing anything from organising assemblies and charity
events to competing in sports, drama and art competitions.
Much of Senior Department life is about preparing girls
for the real world once school is over. We take our
girls on as many trips as we can, this year our girls
have been close to home visiting London's museums and
theatres to as far a field as Normandy and even Uganda.
