Inspection Report
The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) visited the school in October 2005. Their Inspection Report for Sydenham High School was published in March 2006. We are pleased that the ISI was able to recognise not only the first class education offered by the school, but also the richness of the school community and our excellent pastoral care, guidance and support.
'Sydenham High School for Girls is a highly effective school. The girls achieve high standards of attainment and make very good progress. Their attitudes to learning and their behaviour are very good. High quality teaching enhanced by excellent pastoral care leads to high academic achievement and girls who are happy, confident and achieve in many different academic and extra curricular spheres. Leadership from the head teacher, the head of the Junior School, the Girls’ Day School Trust and the governors is very good. The school is well organised and well run. The girls are safe and healthy and the provision for their welfare underpins academic success. There is no major aspect of the school that is unsatisfactory, and many that are very good or excellent.’
'many different teaching methods are used and despite the obvious emphasis on learning, the overriding atmosphere is one of anticipation and fun'
'the real sense of community and the harmonious relationships within the school, built on a strong ethos that embraces and celebrates the multicultural nature of the pupils and their differing backgrounds'
'the school has developed a very effective partnership with parents'
