The GDST’s celebration of its diverse community and commitment to equity and inclusion is embodied in the Undivided Charter.
GDST schools strive to provide every student with a sense of belonging by ensuring they see themselves represented in the curriculum, are supported by inclusive policies and practices, and are celebrated as individuals.
Our Undivided strategy is supported by insights gathered from our staff and student body to understand feelings of belonging in the GDST. We also work with external experts and educators to continually grow in this area.
In March 2025, we analysed the results of our fifth annual Undivided Student Survey for students from years 5 to 13.
This year we achieved our highest response rate to date with 11,000 students (77%) completing the survey. We were delighted to see that each of our three main indicators of inclusion had positive results and were even stronger than last year.
In 2020, we finalised our Undivided Charter for Action, and mission to continually grow and improve in our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Our work so far has included appointing an Undivided Trust Consultant to lead on sharing best practice across GDST schools, introducing mandatory unconscious bias training for all our staff; reviewing and updating our subject curriculum, and arranging talks for parents about how to talk to their child about racism.
