Action Woman Awards 2018

GDST | Action Woman Awards 2018
Sporting legend Clare Balding chatting to the GDST girls during the BT Action Woman Awards 2018
Seven GDST girls were invited to attend the London event from across the UK.
Our schools included Putney, Wimbledon, Brighton, Northampton, Sheffield, Newcastle and Sutton. The girls were selected after being nominated by their schools for their incredible achievements in swimming, netball, lacrosse, trampolining, athletics and rowing.

Invited to a reception at the BT sport studios in Olympic Park, the girls were able to chat with sporting heroes such as the England Netball team, Lizzie Yarnold (Olympic champion in skeleton) and Dina Asher Smith (European and Commonwealth Gold Sprinter).

The girls then attended the televised BT Sports Action Woman awards ceremony where they were given a special mention by Clare Balding as ‘stars of the future’.

One of our own GDST girls who attended is already a sporting hero in her own right – Ellie Robinson, Paralympic Gold Swimmer.

It was a fun and inspiring night for our GDST girls and for all of the attendees.
