Blackheath High Seniors brave the elements in 10k walk for charity

The resilient and fearless Senior School girls from Blackheath High braved torrential rain to walk 10k in support of Plan International UK’s ‘Because I am a Girl’ campaign.

The whole of the Senior School demonstrated true Blackheath High spirit by singing and marching their way through the sponsored walk in nearby Greenwich Park, raising over £3700 for the charity.

Joined by staff, parents and friends of the school, the girls showed incredible resilience in adverse weather conditions as they raised awareness and funds for the ‘Because I am a Girl’ campaign, which focuses on giving girls an equal opportunity to boys.

Mrs Carol Chandler-Thompson, Head, said:

“As a school, we are proud to part of the ‘Because I am a Girl’ campaign, helping to change the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable girls. Plan International UK is an amazing charity tackling real issues that girls and young women face. It does a huge amount to improve the lives of young people and we firmly support that mission.”
