Boys scholarships underway at Shrewsbury High Prep School

Shrewsbury High Prep School has been fully co-ed since 2008 and boys now make up nearly half of the pupils at the School.  While girls move up to the Senior Department at the end of Year 6, boys stay at the Prep school until the end of Year 8 before moving on to a variety of Senior Schools, both locally and nationally.  Girls entering Year 7 have always been eligible for GDST Scholarships but this year the School is delighted to announce the launch of new Hatfields Scholarships available to boys in Years 7 & 8 at the school.  The Scholarships are provided by, and named after, Hatfields Jaguar & Land Rover in Shrewsbury, who have a long established relationship with the school and who are offering the scholarships to boys at the school as they enter Year 7.  Scholarships available are Academic, Sport, Music and All-Rounder and the first recipients of the new Scholarships visited Hatfields Jaguar Shrewsbury to meet the team and introduce themselves.

Head of Shrewsbury High Prep, Mrs Kate Millichamp, is thrilled to be able to offer the new Scholarships to some extremely talented and deserving pupils, “ The Hatfields Scholarships are highly prestigious awards and are widely regarded as reflecting a pupil’s excellent potential.  Holding such awards is hugely beneficial to pupils as their school and professional career progresses.  We are extremely grateful to Hatfields Jaguar & Land Rover for recognising the potential and investing in the futures of these talented and creative boys and we look forward to building an ever stronger relationship with them as the Hatfields Scholarships continue to benefit boys for many years to come”.

The first boys to receive the Scholarships are Harry Marshall who is awarded an Academic & Sport Scholarship. Harry achieved highly in the Academic Assessment papers but who also demonstrated great skill in the practical sports assessment as well as maturity and understanding of what it would mean to be a Sports Scholar during the interview process. William Atkin is awarded a Music Scholarship for his extremely impressive performance across all areas of the practical assessment and articulate responses during the interview, and Elliott Inger receives the All Rounder Scholarship as a determined and conscientious student who demonstrates commitment and maturity across a range of disciplines throughout school, from Sports to Drama.

Craig Petty, Head of Business at Hatfields Jaguar explained why he was so pleased to be teaming up with Shrewsbury High Prep School, “We believe it is important to be engaged in the local community and we are proud to support Shrewsbury High Prep School with these new Scholarships and look forward to following the progress of the Scholars throughout their School years and beyond”.

Having met the new Hatfields Scholars at their showroom in Shrewsbury, and given them a full tour of the latest Jaguar and Land Rover models on the market, the team at Hatfields Jaguar Shrewsbury made the boys’ day by offering them a  lift back to school in one of the latest Jaguars to arrive in the showroom!
