Brighton & Hove High host Brighton Science Festival

As part of Brighton Science Festival we were delighted to welcome junior school girls from across the city to Brighton and Hove High, aiming to engage more girls in the future of science and technology.

The girls took part in a morning of practical activities designed to show what engineers do and the skills they use, with a particular emphasis on creativity and innovation.

They explored some of the exciting and diverse careers that science and technology can lead to, whilst developing their team work, communication and problem solving skills. Girls worked in small groups on a range of different engineering and scientific challenges, touching on software engineering, civil and structural engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering and robotics.

The day was organised by our recently appointed Consultant Teacher for STEM, Naomi Smith, and was a great success in inspiring girls who may never have considered a career in science before.
