The first collaborative academic conference for Year 6 pupils from across the GDST took place in October 2015. Nearly 120 girls from 20 GDST schools took part in the seminar, which focussed on maths exploration and was hosted by Oxford University’s Institute of Mathematics.
Oxford High School alumna Dame Frances Kirwan opened the event, which also involved Sixth Formers from Oxford High mentoring the younger girls. It was a fun and interactive event for the girls, who were asked to solve problems and work in teams, and included a group task in the morning and an inter-school quiz during the afternoon. The staff accompanying them were also set their own challenges.
