International Women’s Day is a chance to celebrate the achievements of women across the world, past and present. This year, our GDST schools marked the day, with performances, creative projects and initiatives tackling gender equality. We take a look at some of the activities.
Newcastle High School
Girls at Newcastle High School took part in a competition to create a piece of work to profile an inspiring female from the past and today.
Well done to our finalists of the #IWD competition and special congratulations to Connie Hayward, Y9, for her moving video entry about suffragette Constance Lytton. Thank you to our judges @helendalby and Margaret Vane who sponsored the prize along with her husband Christopher. pic.twitter.com/pag0vRWNtM
The girls at Blackheath High had an inspiring assembly, that included looking at women from Boudica to learning about the suffragettes, and had the chance to see a screening of the film He Named Me Malala.
