GDST Young Choir of the Year 2019

On Thursday 21st March, six choirs from across the GDST performed in the final of our Young Choir of the Year competition at Cadogan Hall. It was a stunning event in an awe-inspiring venue and every choir utterly impressed.

The girls performed in front of a panel of acclaimed judges including Anna Lapwood, Director of Music at Pembroke College, Cambridge, composer Anna Appleby, and Kevin Stannard, Director of Performance and Outreach at the University of Wolverhampton. After the final performance, and whilst the judges deliberated, the girls took part in a massed choir to perform ‘This is me’ from the hit musical ‘The Greatest Showman’. You can watch all of this in the video below.

The six GDST schools that competed in the final were:

  • Oxford High School
  • Putney High School
  • Notting Hill & Ealing High School
  • Howell’s School, Llandaff
  • South Hampstead High School
  • Blackheath High School

And the winning choir was South Hampstead High School singing two final songs to close the event.
