Howell’s School comes to Mayfair

On Friday 27th January, Howell’s School, Llandaff returned to the splendid setting of London’s Lansdowne Club, in the heart of bustling Mayfair, for the Bowls and Bubbly evening for Hywelians.

Many of the students who leave Howell’s head straight for London, whether to study or to take up employment and training opportunities, and the annual Bowls and Bubbly event gives them a chance to build networks with Hywelians who are based in the capital and reconnect with their peers as well as some of the staff from Howell’s.

This year, the event saw more than 75 Hywelians of all ages coming together for an entertaining evening that included glasses of bubbly and bowls of delicious food. Members of the London branch of the Hywelians were joined by several from Cardiff, who travelled up from school in a mini-bus especially for the evening. The peals of laughter that emanated from every corner of the room would suggest that a good time was had by all.

Guests were treated to a superb performance by acapella singing group, All The King’s Men, who are all students at King’s College, London and include Robert Lindsay (Howell’s Class of 2014 and former head boy) among their number. Principal Mrs Sally Davis was delighted that Cheryl Giovannoni (the new CEO at the GDST) and Glen Fendley (Head of Development at the GDST) were able to attended what was a truly wonderful event, and witness the warmth of the Howell’s family at its most convivial.
