Inaugural Champions Dinner raises £19k for bursary award

On Wednesday 28th June, Howell’s School  hosted its inaugural Champions’ Dinner in aid of the Martha Bursary Award Fund. The glamorously dressed guests arrived for a drinks reception in the Day Room, spilling out into the Quad and enjoying the warm summer evening.

When the gong sounded, everyone made their way to the Great Hall, which looked magnificent, with beautiful flowers arrangements and wine glasses sparkling.

The celebrity guest host for the evening was Lynn Davies, the Olympic medal winning long-jumper, who opened the evening with a highly competitive game of Heads and Tails. A wonderful three course dinner was served before the school’s sporting guests – Jamie Baulch and Christian Malcolm, both sprinters, as well as rugby player Rhys Williams – took to the stage for a Q&A session.

It was a wonderful evening, with much fun and laughter, and after many generous donations to the raffle, silent auction and live auction, the total raised on the night came to £19,000. This impressive sum will go to the Martha Bursary Award Fund to give a young person the chance of an education at Howell’s.
