Nearly three quarters of South Hampstead High A Level entries awarded A or A*

It has been an excellent year for A Level results at South Hampstead High School, with nearly three-quarters of all entries awarded A*/A – almost three times the national average.

Over 27 percent of entries were awarded A*, 73.3% were awarded A* to A and 92% were awarded A* to B.

There were many outstanding successes across the board, including in the reformed A Level subjects. All girls who completed Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ) gained A* or A. The vast majority of girls have secured places at their first-choice university, including Oxford and Cambridge, other Russell Group universities, US Colleges and Art Foundation Courses, while all Medical School applicants have met their offers.

Headmistress, Vicky Bingham, commented: “I am so proud of our pupils’ successes. They have worked extremely hard and made such a significant contribution to our community. I am particularly delighted that in a year with so much change at national level, our pupils have continued to excel. I wish our pioneering young women every success in the next exciting chapter of their lives.”

Alexandra, heading to the University of Cambridge to read Chemistry, achieved four A*s in Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Art & Design. “I’m a bit overwhelmed! I’ve been at South Hampstead since Reception. The best thing about this school is how incredibly supportive the teachers are. I really couldn’t be more grateful.”

Zoe (pictured above), an accomplished dancer who has choreographed major South Hampstead school performances, is off to Georgetown University, USA after a gap year which will include an internship in the Israeli Parliament and voluntary work in Fiji and Vietnam. Zoe achieved an A* in English and As in German, Government & Politics and History.
