A new team to lead Portsmouth High Sixth Form

A new team at Portsmouth High School has been formed to oversee the academic and pastoral care of the thriving Sixth Form.

Mrs Sarah Paget-Tomlinson, Assistant Head of Sixth Form (Pastoral) joins with her husband, Mr John Paget-Tomlinson, Deputy Head, who has been Head of Sixth Form for the past year.  John and Sarah and also joined by Mr George Maude Assistant Head of Sixth Form (Academic).

The three will oversee the academic and pastoral care of the girls in both the Lower and Upper Sixth, ensuring that they are getting the best care and attention in the demanding two years of A Levels.

‘The atmosphere in the Sixth Form is warm and welcoming, with an emphasis on individual attention,’ said Mr Paget-Tomlinson.  ‘It’s a real step-up from the GCSE experience, a new phase of independence and an ideal preparation for university and beyond. Sixth Formers enjoy the excitement of the academic challenge and the opportunities for personal development offered in our rich programmes of study.’

‘The Sixth Form is all about students finding and exploring their academic passions way beyond the syllabus,’ added Mr Maude. ‘My role is to encourage and provide opportunities for students to do this and to share their love of learning with others.’

Mrs Paget-Tomlinson, who has been at Portsmouth High School since 2013 added, ‘I look forward to continuing the excellent provision of pastoral care that has been given to the girls throughout the school. We will all look after the wellbeing of the girls which is paramount at this busy time for them.’

The team is supported by a dedicated Head of Careers and an experienced team of tutors who offer outstanding support at all stages of the Sixth Form experience. In an increasingly complex landscape of university and career paths, their expertise and advice prove invaluable in setting each of our girls on the route that suits them best.
