Northwood College girls run school for the day!

A particular highlight this term has been the ‘run school for the day’ event, where junior school sisters Siena (age six) and Sofia Shah (age nine) were put in command of the whole school! This much sought after opportunity was awarded to the girls, following their win at a raffle organized by our Parent’s Association.

Beginning the day by discussing with the Senior Leadership Team how the school could be improved, they then went on to share their thoughts with the Director of Finance about how the school should spend its money – the girls came prepared with brilliant ideas (several of which involved the installation of a zip wire!).

The rest of the special day included leading assembly, assisting with GCSE Sports and Cookery lessons, and a special ‘behind the scenes’ tour where the girls discovered parts of the school they never even knew existed (secret gardens, plant rooms and hidden passages!). At lunchtime, Siena and Sofia invited two of their friends to join them in the Headmistresses’ office for their favourite meal of macaroni cheese and syrup sponge pudding!

Asked how they had found the experience, Siena commented ‘It was Awesome! I loved every bit of it!” Sofia agreed, adding that she thought “the school is in excellent running order.”
