Notting Hill & Ealing High celebrates 100 years of women in the law

As a continuation of their ‘Inspiring Each Other’ Alumnae Networking Series, Notting Hill & Ealing were delighted to host a breakfast event at Katten Muchin Rosenman UK LLP with the support of the GDST Law Networking Group.

After the breakfast networking reception attendees heard from a panel of fantastic NHEHS alumnae chaired by Aileen Hitchins (NHEHS 1993), Senior In-House Employment Lawyer at Allen & Overy LLP.  The panel were Anita Davies (NHEHS 2003), Barrister at Matrix Chambers; Natasha Delcourt (NHEHS 2002), Senior Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills LLP; Marcia Shekerdemian QC of Wilberforce Chambers (NHEHS 1982) and Lisa Wright (NHEHS 1997), Partner at Slaughter and May.

The panel discussed gender inequality in the legal profession and the greatest challenges that they face as women within the Law; including how to ensure that women continue to progress and have successful, sustainable careers. The speakers touched on well-being and juggling a career in the Law with outside commitments. They spoke of the importance of resilience and doing what you enjoy and gave advice to young alumnae who are at the start of their careers.

We also heard inspiring words from Susie Wakefield, Co-Chair of the GDST Law Group, who reiterated the importance of supporting one another and the benefits of networking at such events. To join the GDST Law Group go to https://www.gdst.net/alumnae/networking
