Oxford High apiary is the bee’s knees!

Students at Oxford High School are abuzz with excitment about the school’s Apiary Club, an exciting new initiative responding to the interests of the students and generously financed by the Oxford High School Annual Fund.

The Biology Department has been a hive of activity this term, with volunteers from Year 10 to Year 13 getting a real buzz out of constructing two cedarwood hives, and planning out the apiary area in the school grounds which will be full of bee-friendly plants.

Two ‘nucs’ (small colonies of worker bees and a queen) are due to arrive in early May next year, with the first pot of honey anticpated for Spring 2019. Watch this space for updates!
