Oxford High School kicks off new sporting venture ‘Girls on the Ball’

Oxford High School has kicked off a new sporting venture locally with its ‘Girls on the Ball’ community project.

A series of tournaments are being held in school and at each, there are over 100 primary-aged girls coming to play football (some for the first time ever!) The local school teams and their teachers are coached by OHS staff and students, and the OHS students are themselves being trained to referee and coach in local community clubs. ‘Girls on the ball’ is being supported by the Oxfordshire FA, the Oxford United Women’s team, HSBC and Reed Education. The project has been attracting huge media attention and most importantly, has meant hundreds of local girls are now playing fabulous football in local teams!
