Royal High School stars continue to shine

The Royal High School Bath Sixth Form students are jumping for joy after another year of exceptional A Level results.

With 82% achieving A*-B grades overall, the percentage of A* grades rose from last year, with the cumulative A*/A % rising by an impressive 7%. Nearly 25% of girls achieved all A*/A at A Level.

One student’s exceptional path to success is especially inspiring. Elizabeth Dunn achieved two A*s and an A, after overcomig the unimaginable challenge of the death of a close family member shortly before her exams to excel in her subjects and secure a place to read French and Spanish at Trinity College, Oxford University.

Commenting as she received her stellar results, Elizabeth said “this school has been with me, supporting me every step of this journey: had it not been for the staff here at the school, I would never have considered Oxford for my future.”

An impressive amount of our girls achieved a full sweep of A*/A. Annabel North, who achieved two A*s and an A has said “I just can’t believe it, I never thought I’d do that well. I actually thought I’d messed up, but apparently not! I honestly didn’t imagine I could achieve more than one A*.”

Although Annabel has been accepted onto her chosen course to read Geography, in light of her shining results she is reviewing her plans:

“These results mean somewhere bigger might be on the cards, I’m going to have a gap year and re-think where I’d like to go!”

Mrs Jo Duncan, Head at The Royal High School commented: “I am exceptionally proud to see our students achieving such wonderful results which reflect all the hard work of the past two years. These fantastic results also reflect the outstanding support and teaching our students receive from the staff here at The Royal High School. They are with the girls every step of their learning journey encouraging and enabling them to succeed and I know they will share my pride today.”

“The wide range of top universities and subject disciplines our young women will be going on to reflects our commitment to providing an outstanding contemporary education for our students. They leave us as well-educated, well-rounded and well-balanced young women ready for university life and beyond. With the support of the GDST and their Alumnae network, our students will have an invaluable resource to draw on as they embark on their careers”

These excellent A Level figures complement impressive International Baccalaureate results, released in July, with an average score across the cohort of 37 points, 7 points above the world average. Four girls scored 40 points and over, out of the possible total of 45 points.

Anna Weston, IB Coordinator, said: “I am thrilled for our students and proud of all that they have learned and given to the school. This IB cohort was a particularly caring and cohesive group; they worked hard, played hard and cared deeply for each other. They deserve everything they have achieved.”
