Sheffield Girls’ Launches Futurescape

Cathy Walker, Director of Sixth Form at Sheffield Girls’ has launched a new event to encourage Y10 girls to start thinking about their employability skills long before they apply for their first jobs.

Futurescape is an initiative that brings together current pupils and staff and draws on the expertise of our alumnae to offer Y10 girls a brilliant range of workshops and activities, guiding them to start to think about their future and the wider world of work.

Topics will range from entrepreneurship, law and STEM, to the music industry, film-making and social media. A range of exciting speakers will be leading the sessions including Sophie Walker, Leader of the Women’s Equality Party; Rachael Hopkins, alumna and Director of Balance Me;  and Helen Boulding alumna and singer/songwriter. In the afternoon, all students will participate in a set of interactive, dynamic activities led by The Self Esteem Team.

The girls have already spent a day ‘off timetable’ taking part in a series of Morrisby careers assessments and participating in an ‘Apprentice’ style business task – to market the Sixth Form to potential new pupils. To end the day, they enjoyed  some fun team-building activities led by the National Citizenship Service.
