Shining young stars shortlisted for Women of the Future Awards

Two Putney High School students, Bethany Reeves and Emma Andrews, were recognised as inspirational young female stars when they were shortlisted for the prestigious Women of the Future Awards 2016. The awards celebrate talent across diverse sectors including business, culture, media, technology and many more. Both young women were nominated in the Young Star category, which acknowledges high achievers aged 16-21 showing exceptional promise within their industry, university or school.

Alumnae Emma Andrews (Class of 2016) is a high achiever in both the sports and academic fields, as a Great Britain rower and first year student at the University of Cambridge where she is reading Natural Sciences. After representing Great Britain in the junior section of European Championships in 2015 and 2016, Emma plans to trial for selection into the ‘under 23’ GB rowing team. Whilst at university Emma has qualified for the 2017 CUWBC squad, giving her the chance to race in the renowned Oxford Vs Cambridge boat race. In addition to her rowing prowess Emma looks forward to working towards a future career in Astrophysics.

Bethany Reeves, currently in Year 13 at Putney High School, is recognised in the awards for her musical abilities. Highlights of her fledgling career include winning the Royal Opera House composition competition, when led to her work being conducted by the legendary Sir Antonio Pappano at the Royal Opera House. She has achieved Grade 8 distinctions in no less than six instruments and was this year selected as Wandsworth Young Musician of the Year.
