South Hampstead High hosts Music in the Garden

Music is in the air at South Hampstead as six renowned alumnae musicians join current music scholars to play at our ‘Music in the Garden’ event.

Music has always been central to life at South Hampstead and this year it has been a focus bringing together our whole community. Some of our outstanding professional musicians performed for the first and only time together and then joined with current pupils and music scholars for an exceptional concert to help to raise funds for our new Waterlow Hall.  ‘Music in the Garden’ was hosted by an alumna at the house and garden formerly belonging to the renowned concert pianist Clifford Curzon.  Guests were treated to a champagne and strawberry tea in the sunshine and we were delighted to be joined by three former headmistresses of the school. We are now preparing to start work on the Waterlow Hall to create a cultural and creative heart at South Hampstead – a place to welcome back our alumnae, to welcome in local schools and the surrounding community and to encourage and inspire our pupils for generations to come.

In keeping with our musical theme we look forward to inviting all our alumnae back to ‘Come and Sing’ and ‘Raise the Roof’ in our new hall at our Reunion Lunch on the 8th March 2020.
