Stellar GCSE results at Northwood College

With throats still hoarse from the cheers that marked the previous week’s excellent A Level results, the girls, staff and parents at Northwood College for Girls were celebrating once again this morning with over 70% of the GCSE results achieving A*- A grades (results incorporate the new English Language and English Literature grading system which states that grades 9 and 8 are equivalent to A*; grade 7 is equivalent to A and grade 6 is equivalent to B).

Head Mistress, Jacqualyn Pain, comments:

“A direct result of the hard work, dedication and commitment that has been shown by our girls and their teachers, our excellent results reveal that almost 90% of our girls’ grades were A* – B!  Over 30% of our girls have achieved straight A* – A grades; 65% have gained seven or more A* – A grades and almost one half (47%) of our girls have gained nine or more A* – A’s!”

Science students followed a winning formula with A* – A grades representing over 93% of Physics grades, over 98% of Chemistry grades and 100% of Biology exam results! A* – A grades were the result of 82% of the Maths grades; 70% of the English Literature grades; 86% of the Religious Studies grades and 77% of the History grades.

100% A* – A spells success in any language, which is exactly what the Chinese students achieved this year; A* – A represented 86% of the Latin grades and 79% of the Spanish grades; while the Textile students created an equally brilliant picture with 100% of their results at A* – A grades.

Miss Pain added:

“Our staff and pupils are ambitious and aspirational, we work hard to equip our students with a love of learning which we are confident plays a pivotal role in motivating and driving them to exceed all expectations.”

Twins Amber and Leah Patel are jumping for joy at their results; and so they should be with Leah having achieved ten A*’s and Amber having achieved six A*’s and four A’s!

The girls’ beaming mother commented: “I am super proud of my girls. They have worked so very hard and it has all paid off.”

Amber said: “I did not expect this, I am in total shock.” Amber will be going on to study Economics, Maths and Chemistry in the Sixth Form; her sister Leah will be studying Spanish, Economics and Maths, she commented: “I am so happy and relieved and I am really looking forward to joining the Sixth Form next month.”

With ten A*’s, Siena Sahota has much to smile about. “I am completely speechless” she said!

Siena has not decided on her chosen career path as yet but is very much looking forward to joining the Sixth Form where she will be studying Maths, Biochemistry and Further Maths.

Zaynab Abbas achieved ten A* grades and commented: “It is all down to my teachers!”.

Zaynab’s beaming mother said, “I am really really proud. Zaynab has benefitted from incredible teachers. Thank you Northwood College!”

“I am looking forward to going in to the sixth form where I will study Physics, Chemistry and Maths and am aiming to become a Bio-medical Engineer”, Zaynab added.

“Today I am just so relieved, shocked and estastic. I am so very grateful and thankful to my teachers.”
