Principal Sally Davis said: “These are exceptional results in exceptional times. I am proud of our Year 13 students every year, but I can honestly say that this year I am prouder than I have ever been. This cohort has worked consistently towards their A-levels, only to have the opportunity to show what they can achieve in the exams taken from them.

Since they learned that they would not be sitting their exams, they have not been resting on their laurels. Early in lockdown, one student became the volunteer coordinator for the Covid support group in her area, arranging shopping deliveries and the collection of prescriptions for the vulnerable people in her community, while another, an aspiring medic, donned PPE to work as part of the housekeeping team at University Hospital Wales, supporting the NHS medical staff to keep us all safe and well. Just two examples of many.

Our very successful Next Steps Programme, which took place during lockdown, was designed to prepare our students for university, for the world of work, and to develop their life skills.

Year 13 leave us with a maturity and resilience that will stand them in such good stead, wherever their adult lives take them. I cannot wait to see what that will be for each and every one of them. Good luck to the class of 2020, we wish them every success and happiness in the future.”
