A Positive return to school

The Positive Group has filmed a webinar to help GDST staff and students manage uncertainties around the new school term.

The Positive Group has created a ‘Back to School’ webinar to help GDST staff and students settle into the new term.

The 40-minute webinar features Positive psychologists Dr Brian Marien and Dr Sinéad Devine-French who discuss issues such as anxiety around coming back to school this year and suggests some techniques for staff and students to manage the transition.

The GDST has long recognised the importance of taking a proactive approach to psychological health, building emotional intelligence and resilience in teachers and pupils and giving them a sense of their own agency. Since 2016, this has included working with The Positive Group to develop and roll out the Positive Programme across all our schools.

The Positive Schools Programme is a whole-school initiative that aims to promote and maintain the wellbeing and resilience of all school members, particularly teachers and pupils. The project uses a range of different tools as well as app-based technology that is targeted towards creating a culture of emotional literacy.
