A brace of sporting victories for Bromley High

Bromley High School is celebrating a brace of sporting victories at the recent GDST Sports Rally which took place on Tuesday, 3rd  October 2017. The school’s 1st XI hockey team left the school at 5:30am bound for the GDST sports rally at Northampton High School.

With standout performances by Rachel Cawker, Head Girl, and Alice Prentice, the 1st X1 made it through to the semi-finals with decisive victories along the way against Nottingham High, Birkenhead High and Northampton High in the quarter finals.

Thanks to amazing work from Amelia Ward in defences, the team was victorious against Newcastle in the semi finals and went through to the final, overcoming Norwich High to take the victory.

It was a fantastic performance by the team, who did not concede a single goal throughout the whole day! Tammy Falshaw, the team captain, said, “We felt very proud to be bringing the trophy home for a second consecutive year.”

However, it wasn’t just on the hockey pitch where the school dominated, but on the netball court too.

After playing all of the teams in the pool stage, they had completed 11 difficult matches, losing only one and drawing two, placing them in the semi-finals against Streatham and Clapham High. Following an 8-4 triumph, they were through to the finals against Putney High.

With a closely-fought and well-deserved 9-6 victory, the team took the title of Trust Netball Champions! Special congratulations to Sofie Williams who was their player of the tournament and to the U14’s Lucy Baker, Honey Watson and Evelyn Davis who stepped up to support the team.
