Bringing the GDST family together for our 150th anniversary

Over 20,000 students and 4,000 staff united for a very special moment last week to celebrate the Girls’ Day School Trust’s 150th anniversary, and our commitment to the GDST’s founding mission to create a movement in girls’ education.

During the GDST 150 Assembly, held on Thursday 17th November 2022, students, heads, teachers and support staff from across our schools reflected together on why girls’ and women’s equality is more important than ever and the role of education, and the GDST, in achieving that.

“We have tomorrow’s changemakers and disruptors right here in our schools, now. You.
We believe that you are the generation that will go on to change the world and make it a better place. Not just for women, but for everyone. Because that’s what true equality means.”

– Cheryl Giovannoni, Chief Executive

Our Chief Executive, Cheryl Giovannoni, addressed the GDST community, speaking about our pioneering history, sharing the achievements of some of our trailblazing alumnae and current students, and looking ahead to an exciting future continuing to shape world-leading education for girls in our schools.

The assembly was well-received by students and staff alike, with many schools posting about it on their social media channels…
