An update on the GDST Chair of Council

Last month, at the end of her three-year term, Vicky Tuck stepped down from her position as Chair of Council.

GDST Council has begun the process of identifying a successor to lead the organisation into its next chapter. In the interim, long-serving Trustees Ann Ewing and Stuart Ross have been appointed as Co-Chairs of Council, providing continuity and stewardship during the transition period. Their significant experience leading strategic direction and oversight within the finance and education sectors, alongside their strong commitment to girls’ education and combined 14 years as GDST Trustees, makes them the ideal candidates for this role.

ann ewingAnn is a senior executive leader with broad experience in general management, change management and strategic HR. She worked in the commercial and not for profit sectors, before specialising in education in 2010. Her dedication to people, learning and development is reflected through her postgraduate teaching at the Open University Business School and governance roles at Royal Holloway College University of London and Ark Soane Academy, a start-up secondary school in Acton, west London, as well as current position as Chair of the GDST Academy Trust Board and membership of the GDST Education & People Committee.

Stuart Ross GDSTStuart is a Chartered Accountant and an experienced non-executive director within the financial services sector. He has held CFO roles in large UK businesses in the energy and telecommunications industries and, more recently, in international media and private equity-backed technology companies. He brings extensive practical expertise in supporting executive teams through transformational change, including mergers and acquisitions, and contributes this experience through his role on the GDST Investments Committee. Until recently, he also served as Chair of the GDST Audit Committee.

Ann and Stuart will oversee the organisation until a new Chair of Council is appointed.
