Congratulations to Wimbledon High School’s Year 11 on excellent GCSE results

Wimbledon High School, Head Fionnuala Kennedy, today congratulated Year 11 students on their excellent GCSE results.

“Collectively and individually this year group have shone during these challenging months, studying hard despite knowing that they would not have the opportunity to show their learning in public examinations. They have complemented their studies with a rich variety of co-curricular pursuits.

“As they head into Sixth Form, we celebrate the wonderful young people who give so much to school life and the community beyond. From volunteering in a Covid vaccination centre, to ballroom dancing in national championships, from writing regular articles for the local newspaper to becoming an illustrator in an international science journal, these students have shown creativity, resilience and a determination to make the best of a difficult situation.

“We look forward to welcoming them into Year 12, where they will have the opportunity to start to lead the sport, drama and music clubs with which they have been so engaged. We can’t imagine better future leaders.”
