Doubling down to transform a girl’s life with the gift of education
The GDST’s life changing bursary campaign has been selected as a beneficiary of the Big Give – a nationwide charity that provides match funding in support of important causes. This incredible opportunity means that every donation made as part of the GDST Big Give: Transforming Lives Campaign during the week of 10th – 17th October will be matched, doubling the impact of each contribution.
Through your donations, we aim to reach our goal of £10,000 to drive real change for women and girls in the UK. Every gift, no matter the size, will have twice the impact and help us to provide life-changing bursaries to talented girls and young women who, due to their financial circumstances, would otherwise be unable to access a GDST education.
How You Can Help
- Visit The Big Give campaign page between 10th and 17th October, and your contribution (up to £5,000) will be matched – doubling the impact of your gift. With both Gift Aid and match funding, a £100 donation could be worth £225 to the GDST.
- Help us spread the word by sharing the campaign with friends, family, and your social networks – anyone who might be interested in supporting the GDST!
Why Your Support Matters
We believe there can be no better social mobility lever for a girl than a GDST education. Since 1998, over 6,600 women across the UK have benefitted from the life-changing opportunity of a GDST education thanks to our bursary programme.
Currently we provide support to 1,100 girls in our 23 fee paying schools across England and Wales. We are working to create 75 new 100% bursaries, transforming the lives of girls in the most deprived areas of the UK.
We are fully committed to our mission to play an ongoing and significant role in improving the educational outcomes of girls and young women in this country. Your donation will directly support our crucial work and ambitions to provide more life changing opportunities and make progress towards a gender equal society.
“The bursary programme is one of the most important things within the GDST. More people need the opportunity to have a brilliant education. If you can fund the next Nobel prize winner, the next Prime Minister, do it. To be a GDST girl is a very great gift.” Current bursary scholar, Oxford High School.
“Even the thought of investing in someone’s education, we might think it’s just investing in one person, but I think investing in one person’s education is investing in society as a whole. We hope to be in a place that we can give back, not just to the amazing GDST bursary programme but to wider society through whatever we end up doing, trying to make the world a better place.” Current bursary Scholar, Nottingham Girls’ High School.
Through this campaign, we aim to raise a total of £10,000. To unlock the £5,000 available in our matching fund, we need to raise £5,000 in online donations. We hope everyone will give generously to help us reach our target and enable us to carry on the work we all feel so passionately about and to help create a fairer, more equal world for all through the power of girls’ education.
Please join us on this journey and help us change more lives.
Thank you so much for your support!
