Excellent GSCE results at Wimbledon High School
Students today celebrated an excellent set of GCSE results – the first, of course, since the pandemic. With much of their learning online in the early days of their courses, students have performed brilliantly, with the percentage of A*, 9 and 8 grades higher than in 2019, at 80%.
A*, 9, 8 = 80%
A*, A, 9 – 7 = 92%
A*, A, B, 9 – 5 = 99%
Fionnuala Kennedy, Head said:
“Our GCSE cohort of 2021-22 absolutely shone this morning, amidst the torrential rain! In any year, their individual and group achievements would be considerable; after two years of turbulence they are phenomenal. With a vast number scoring only the top grade across the board, and many outperforming their own expectations, there was delight and wonder in the air. It’s not to be forgotten, either, that this is a cohort of GB sportswomen, elite musicians, talented actors, debaters and entrepreneurs. The prospect of these capable, curious, talented students coming through to our Sixth Form in only a few days’ time is particularly tantalising and we can’t wait to see what they will do next. Adventures await.”
Wimbledon High’s new Sixth Form Centre, with its reflective courtyard, study and social spaces, café and gym, opens in September, and with it, a new Sixth Form offer comprising more university style teaching and Futures programme.
