GDST welcomes new Executive Director of Schools
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jodh Dhesi as the new Executive Director of Schools at the Girls’ Day School Trust.

Jodh was appointed following a rigorous and competitive recruitment process and brings extensive senior leadership experience across complex educational organisations. He joins us from the King Edward VI Foundation in Birmingham where he serves as Chief Executive Officer, leading a large and diverse group of high-performing independent and state-funded schools. In that role, he has held responsibility for school performance, governance, financial sustainability and organisational development across a complex educational charity. He previously served as Deputy Chief Education Officer at GEMS Education, further strengthening leadership skills across large, multi-school environments.
Jodh combines strong educational credibility with significant organisational and strategic leadership experience. He is widely respected for his collaborative, values-led approach and his ability to bring clarity and coherence across diverse school communities.
Commenting on his appointment, Jodh said:
“It is an honour to take on this new role at the Girls’ Day School Trust. I am excited to join such a significant national charity and to contribute to its objective of supporting girls to learn without limits. I am looking forward to working with the CEO, Trustees, Heads and Principals and all GDST school communities in this significant task.”
Jodh will take up the role of Executive Director of Schools in September 2026, working closely with our Heads and Principals, CEO, school communities, Trustees and the Executive Leadership Team to support the continued success of GDST schools.
