Five GDST schools featured in The Tatler Schools Guide 2023

We are delighted to announce that five Girls’ Day Schools Trust (GDST) schools have been featured in the 2023 edition of The Tatler Schools Guide.

Oxford High School, Kensington Prep School, South Hampstead High School, Wimbledon High School and Putney High School have all been profiled by The Tatler Schools Guide – an impartial listing of all the best public and prep schools in the UK. We are so proud of our family of 25 all girls’ schools and delighted to have had five schools featured in the prestigious and influential magazine.

oxford high schoolOxford High School was recommended for its focus on academia (in 2021, 60% of A-level grades were A*) as well as extra curricula activities.  As one parent commented, ‘the school aims to create well-rounded young women who will strive to achieve whatever they desire, irrespective of the challenges’.

Kensington Prep School’s Head Caroline Hulme-McKibbin was singled out by one parent as ‘a great leader’, with the school’s greatest strength being ‘the girls’ said another. Based in leafy Fulham, Tatler described the school as ‘bursting with energy, enthusiasm and ideas’.

Opened in 1876, South Hampstead High School was commended for its ‘consistently stellar results’ – 95% of last year’s A-levels were A-A* – and for winning many top prizes such as a national safe-breaking contest and a top design award with RSA. Tatler described feminist Head Vicky Bingham as “brilliant”, leading by example, with other staff at the top of their games.

Wimbledon High School was highlighted for its ‘attractive array of red-bricked buildings’, its 140 societies and various outreach initiatives within the community. (Their results speak for themselves.) ‘I would, without a doubt, recommend this school’ said one parent, ‘I wish I could have gone there as a child’.

Tatler described Putney High School as “academic with a very modern edge” and we couldn’t agree more. More than 96% of pupils secured places at their first-choice university with 92% of pupils gaining A-A*.  Also singled out were Putney’s staggering 200 clubs (which they run each week) and their Breathe programme – which has led to an abundance of plant life across the grounds and within the buildings.
