GCSEs 2024 — Newcastle High School for Girls celebrates another stellar set of GCSE results

After reporting a nine percentage point leap at A Level A* – B grades, this week’s GCSE results also see girls at Newcastle High School for Girls outstanding success with more than one in three grades awarded at grade 9 or 8 (A*equivalent) and four out of five grades awarded at grades 9 – 6.

More than half of girls at Newcastle High School achieved top grades of 9 – 7 at GCSE in Maths.

“These excellent GCSE results are the culmination of two years’ hard work and I am thrilled that the girls have received the grades that they so richly deserve.”

Head of Newcastle High School, Amanda Hardie, said: “These excellent GCSE results are the culmination of two years’ hard work and I am thrilled that the girls have received the grades that they so richly deserve. What’s also been heartwarming today is the girls’ joy in each other’s success.

As the results days draw to an end and we prepare for a new academic year in September, I would like to thank the wider school community and staff for their dedication in supporting every one of our pupils to be the best version of themselves. Academic success for girls stems from excellent teaching and guidance delivered in an empowering environment that builds confidence and self-belief from a girl’s very first day at school. At NHSG, we are experts in the education of girls and put girls first every single day.”

At GDST senior schools we tailor our approach to how girls learn best, providing them with the attributes they need to excel. In our schools, academic excellence is a given and our girls beat the GCSE national average year on year. But GDST girls also learn to be confident, happy and fearless, to be prepared for the opportunities of the future.

We have 23 independent schools and two academies in England and Wales, and we congratulate students from across our family of schools for achieving outstanding results again this year.
