GDST Digital Leaders' Conference 2017There are new developments in technology every day, with our schools and girls embracing the opportunties it has to offer. From writing computer code to learning new technologies and from attending our annual ‘techathon’ event to sending an iPhone into space – technology is very much embraced in a GDST school. So we have compiled our favourite stories from the past year to showcase what our GDST girls have been up to…

1. Portsmouth High pupil sends code to the International Space Station

In April 2018 a Year 11 pupil at Portsmouth High School had computer code that she wrote sent to the International Space Station (ISS) after getting through to the next stage of the Mission Space Lab run by the Raspberry Pi organisation. Upon receiving her experimental data back she produced a final report analysing her findings.

2. Innovative ‘Explore Floor’ nominated for AV Award

The stunning Explore Floor project at Kensington Prep School was shortlisted for Education Project of the Year at the recent AV Awards 2017. The school’s innovative project was chosen alongside many entries across the education sector including multi-million pound projects in universities as well as other schools.

4. GDST Tech Pioneers strike all the right notes

Earlier this year, students and staff gathered from across the GDST family for a pioneering day of digital innovation at the GDST Techathon. The girls were challenged to create a unique digital product or service inspired by the event theme of ‘Music and Digital Technologies’. They then had to pitch their concepts to a panel of judges.
