A Levels 2024 — Head Girl Team at Shrewsbury High School lead on successful A level Results
Shrewsbury High School Sixth Formers have demonstrated once again their broad range of talents across several subjects by achieving an excellent set of A level results in 2024. Three quarters of grades were A*/B with 8 girls achieving a clean sweep of A*/A grades. Head Girl Harriet, and Deputy Head Girls Eleanor and Alice all achieved A*/As, a huge achievement to have such academic success alongside the leadership responsibilities that come with being part of the Head Girl Team. Michelle, Olivia, Phoebe, Emma, and Pippa are also celebrating a sweep of A*/As.





What was particularly exciting for the school was the excellence demonstrated across Faculties from Creative Technologies, Science, Languages and Maths.
Shrewsbury High School is renowned for its dynamic and innovative Art Department and SHS artists were celebrating as the department achieved 100% A*/A grades in Fine Art, Art and Design (Graphics) and Art and Design (Photography). Religious Studies also saw 100% A*/As.
There were also strong performances in Science and Maths with 70% of grades across Biology, Chemistry and Physics A*/B and 80% of Maths and Further Maths A*/B.
80% of Languages grades across French, Spanish, German and Latin were A*/B. Classical Civilisation and Drama achieved 100% A*/B. 88% of Computer Science grades achieved A* – B and 100% of CTEC ICT at the highest grade, Distinction.
SHS Head Darren Payne praised his year 13 students and is delighted that following their hard work they will now be heading off to pursue university courses, industry apprenticeships and gap years, with over 80% of students achieving their first-choice destination.
